Is there anything better than cold beer and baseball? It’s a combination that is hard to beat during the season. No matter what kind of beer you drink (or how many), let’s take a look at some of the best action on the Big 12 baseball diamond from Sunday with a nice six-pack.

Best Game

Oklahoma vs Nebraska

At one point in this game, the Sooners found themselves down 5-1. Despite being behind, Oklahoma just kept battling back and was able to score two runs in the fifth inning thanks to a Rocco Garza-Gongora hit and a wild throw.

Nebraska would end up putting a run on the board in the sixth but in the seventh inning, Bryce Madron hit a two-run blast to pull Oklahoma within one.

Then in the ninth inning down by one, Michael Snyder hit a double and a throwing error helped tie the game before Jaxon Willits called game with his RBI single.

Best Win

Houston over Binghamton

The Cougars capped off their weekend with a big win over Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. Houston got on the board early thanks to a pair of key hits by Justin Murray before Alex Lopez, Ace Reese, and Harol Coll hit three homers in the eighth inning.

Meanwhile starting pitching Duncan Howard was lights out. While this win may not seem like a big deal to some, it was huge. Not only did Houston complete the sweep, but they also swept a team that was favored to win their conference and reach the postseason.

Worst Loss

Baylor

Let me start by saying Baylor’s loss wasn’t all that bad. Nine Big 12 teams took the field Sunday and eight of them won. The only team to lose was Baylor and they lost to a top ten team in Tennessee. They actually did a decent job early on in this game and then the Vols started pulling away in the fourth inning. Despite the loss, I thought the Bears actually had a nice weekend in Arlington and looked much better than they did a year ago.

Sunday MVP

Texas Tech LF Damian Bravo

Damian had a monster day in Arlington against Oregon. He ended up hitting three doubles and knocked in four runs for the Red Raiders in their 11-7 victory over the Ducks. It’s safe to say that he played a crucial role in the game and was worthy of my MVP award.

Nah, it's not a replay!

Make it three doubles for Bravo, as the outfielder doubles home his fourth run of the night!

Pitcher of the Day

Oklahoma State RHP Janzen Keisel

Janzen put together a masterful performance on the mound against a good Sam Houston lineup on Sunday. He pitched five full innings and didn’t allow a single run. In fact, he only gave up three hits and managed to strike out six. I also want to give a shoutout to Duncan Howard (Houston) and Patrick Steitz (Kansas) who I strongly considered putting here as well.

Strong Sunday

Best Home Run

Kansas Catcher Jake English

I could have easily put Jake as my Sunday MVP but the least I could do is give me the best home run award. Anyone who has followed along knows that I love grand slams and of course, Jake hit a big one to help his team win.

Oh, and by the way, he also went yard again later in the game.
